The Michigan Small Business Development Center and the Michigan Economic Devel-opment Corporation (MEDC) produced one of the best publications available on starting a business – Guide to Starting and Operating a Small Business. This publication provides everything you need to know about starting a business from business plans to taxes and insurance.

MEDC provides business start-up assistance for individuals operating a business in Michigan.

Northern Initiatives (NI), a Community Development Financial Institution, provides business start-up assistance as well as financing opportunities.
